ST HELENS AA CANAL MATCH RESULTS 16,1,08

Well as you know we have had plenty of rain lately and today was no different, it poured down from early morning until around 1 o'clock, so I think the rain was a major contributing factor in the low turnout we had this week and only 13 anglers were at the draw. The water was full of colour and the level was rising constantly throughout the match making the fishing quite challenging, but apart from the rain the conditions were very mild for this time of year and there was hardly any disturbance on the water from the very little breeze that popped up now and again and the canal was like glass.

So first couple of hours things were very slow indeed, in fact with only a few silverfish being caught along the canal it was the slowest I have known, Dave Allsop on peg 39 had 4 roach, Mark Tyrer on peg 35 had a few bits and so did Mark Addy on peg 24 ,while Ste Hammy on peg 22, Ste Ward on peg 20 and Andy Jones on peg 18 were getting some action of skimmers.

Next few hours and things picked up a little for a few lucky anglers , Dave Allsop had a nice brightly coloured shubunkin plus 2 nice carp around 7lb each, John Risley on peg 26 had a small carp around 2lb, while Ste Hammy, Ste Ward, Mark Addy and Andy Jones were still getting action from silverfish.
Last hour and Ian Sullivan on peg 31 had a few descent sized roach and a small eel, Ste Hammy and Ste ward were still catching silvers and George Wilton on peg 32 only had a few roach in his net until 10 minutes before all out when he hit a nice lump which weighed in at 9lb 12oz and secured him second place.

Cracking report and good pics WW! liking the video lol!! Was very slow fishing 2day you had 1 or 2 skimmers then they dissapeared for 20 mins then you would get a few more and they just kept going and coming back lol. Not a carp in sight oo well there always next time lol!
