Does anyone know if there are Pike in the dig pit, and if so what size do they go too? And as anyone recently fished the Basin(Blackbrook) for Pike?

As far as I am aware there are some pike in the dig pit BUT they are only jack pike. No size to them. I fished Leg O Mutton over christmas for pike, was very successful, biggest was 11lb caught on mackerel. Also cant go wrong with the Dam, seen plenty taken close in off the wall. Don't know about the Basin.

The Dam has some good pike in it. Some big pike fell to anglers on the road side were all the lillies used to be. Many years ago I remember leaning over the arches and looking down in the lillies next to the arches (lillies no longer there) on a sunny day and seeing some very good pike not moving an inch.

Having never fished for pike I stood there in awe. I dont know were the best place on the Dam would be now but along the wall and any fallen trees would be the place I guess.

As for the basin, I have not heard anyone fishing for pike in there.

Last October i helped a guy get a big pike out of the canal (tesco stretch) it was about 15 lb bloody scary looking thing aswel lol. Going back about 15yrs ago i pulled an 18 lb out of the legga and i had a few jacks last october spinning, the biggest was about 3lb. Dunno whether the big ones are still in there tho.

Carr mill is a tip venue but you can catch on pole or waggler. I fished peg 157 yesterday catching mainly roach with a couple of better skimmers and perch using a groundbait feeder and red maggot
