I thought Taylor park was a free lake to fish. So I guess st.Helens aa don't have total rights to it. I would not think st.helens aa would agree/allow that to happen then. Stranger things have happened though.

I fished here last week and never caught anything decent, but speaking to two lads they told me fish have been taken out of here, sandy bottoms, Taylor park and put into the clegg over in thatto Heath don't know how true this is, but it does explain why noone is catching any carp out of here!

Is it St.Helens AA doing this? If so they would need to do this with the permission of the EA wouldn't they. They would need a very good reason to do this and to move these fish to a water which is not properly managed, well, I dont think the EA would consider this. Although Taylor park is managed by the council I have no idea who the clegg belongs to, I know no Angling club has the rights to it. I just cannot see St.Helens AA agreeing to down grade one of its own waters to stock one they dont own.

Unless they are going to announce the clegg on the St.Helens card?

couple ov things, one i,ve seen that deformed carp swiimin shallow in most ov the pegs in the sunshine. on the fish stories both taylor park an legg o mutton are are the st.helens AA card. another story i heard is that most ov the big fish are gaettin taken out an moved illeagally to stanley park near goodison on a night. all city parks an lakes in liverpool are now free fishin so night fishin around here is gettin popular an the fish moved off down that end.

I think if we are hearing the same rumours there might be a little bit of truth in it, I think the only way to prevent this is st helens AA to check the gate is locked of a night or better still check people's permits, I've never been checked at all this year at the leg!

taylor is not on the aa card it say "on application to the boat house" which basicly means a load of bollocks and they dont have any fishing rights and probably never will because it is set in stone that any use of taylor park as to bee free by the lord who gave the land to the council for the purpose of a puplic park and if they charge for anything then they have to give the land back! also fish theft out of legga have gone on for years the fish are moved from paddock or taylor and back again and unless caught red handed thered is nothing can be done

I think permits getting checked and the gate closed on a night would be a start to be fair, ive fished there since the new card got released and never had it checked yet!

It would the a start for damn sure. I mostly fish car mill and the dig pit an I have not had my permit checked at all this year as well. It is the bare minimum for any club to do. Then when they have the luxury of being able to lock it up at night and then they dont, well, they cannot moan when things like this do happen.

By the way, do you still get the pigs around Leg o Mutton?

The dig pit is good for silver fish sport. Early morning or evenening is when the Dig Pit fishes well, I dont know the reason for this but it does go quiet in the middle of the day. You can be the only one on the pit on many occasions. I like it, good sport fishing especially on pole. I have been told that at the end of last year the AA stocked the pit with tench and carp although they have not shown for me and others who have fished with me. Would be interested to hear if others have been lucky with them.

Think with the rubbish left around the lakes and canals is more of a peoples lack of respect for St.Helens on a whole as the whole town is full of rubbish. Most of ST.Helens AA's waters are open to the public to walk around as well. Although, I do believe the AA could do more I think we need to look at ourselves, others and our kids.

yes very true swift the litter is all the members responsibility, maybe if the AA had regular patrols and permit checks or even used the membership money to invest in a few bins this wouldnt happen

When people talk of St Helens AA , we must remember that St Helens AA is all who hold a permit i.e. the membership. Members should take it on themselves to encourage fellow anglers to keep the place clean. With regard to the public also having access to the waters , yes they do , but do the general public live on a diet of luncheon meat ? Do they all shop in angling stores and walk around discarding packaging from rigs and hook packets by the waters ?. I guess they also walk around with lengths of line in their pockets to throw out as they pass the waters. It would also appear that they congregate around most of the popular pegs to drop their litter :0). I would encourage all members to lead by example , if you do see fellow fishermen dropping litter politely ask them to tidy up. Take a look at the litter and where it is congregated you will quickly realise most is discarded by anglers. How may of the members would turn out for a tidy up if the board arranged a litter cleaning day ?. Like most issues in society it is always someone elses problem , the only way to overcome the litter issue is for everyone to take ownership under the leadership of the St Helens AA elected board.

With regards to permit checks i know Sammy is on Carr Mill and the dig pit every day and will ask anyone for their card if he has'nt seen them before. He gets to know all the regulars on there so once he's been shown their card he won't trouble them again. Also in regards to the litter he never walks round the dam or the dig pit without a bag and collects rubbish along the way.I was speaking to him yesterday and he was going ape s##t about the mess behind the arches as he had only cleaned it up a couple of days before! It must be a thankless task for Sammy and i can understand his frustrations, although i'm sure that 98% of litter and rubbish is NOT from members we can all do our bit.

steve you are right about the litter we should all take it home, i do make a conscious effort every time i go fishing. and also think is it not worth investing in a few bins for maybe the leg o mutton mainly, as most people who fish there leave there bags of rubbish on the side which is totally wrong! so is there no one checking permits on the leg then?

although i dont get down to digg pit or carr mill i cant speak of the situation of litter on those waters but regards to the canal and legga i must agree the litter is a nightmare especially on the canal! though it must be said it is the responsibility of ourselves aswell as officials to look after the welfare of our waters! but there needs to be something drastic done on the canal its a mess! most people who are club officials have jobs and dont have the time to get down and do a clean up! also when work parties are organised its rare that many actually turn up on the day even when they have said they will be there something always crops up! the A A has plenty of bailiffs that get paid to do there job and as far as i am aware but dont take it for gospel is £30 a month as opposed to £15 on pilks, these bailiffs should be doing there job and there should be checks by senior officials to ensure they are doing there jobs, as for litter bins its unlikely this will happen because once you have the bins then they need to be emptied and who's going to do that lol well they wont want to pay the council to do it! i let me finish by saying i have always wondered where and what does the money get spent on at st helens aa? and i still ha vent got a clue because its not on fish stocking? and lastly this is my own personal opinions and not of FISH ST HELENS and we are not affiliated with any club!
