Perch on carr mill....
Decided to do a bit of perch fishing on carr mill this weekend, but its been a while since i last did any perch fishing lol.... about 15yrs infact...
i have a feeder rod, with a heavy and medium tips, a sheakspere omni reel loaded with 10lb sensor and 1 with 20lb braid (mainly for spinning)
whats my best aproach for the perch?
bait wise? should i use a ground bait and open feeder?
paternoster or running rig?
will also be sending out a rod for pike while i'm at it lol and might launch 1 out for carp to.... got to cover all options hahaha
any tips would be much appreciated not done alot of fishing on the dam

Re: Perch on carr mill....
for perch you dont need that strong a line, about 5or 6 lb would do, and use the medium tip. as for bait i would use a lob worm if you can get them with a feeder filled with red maggots, you can use the maggots on the hook to but that will attract a wider range of fish, even with the worm on you will still get attention from other fish, if allowed a livebait hooked through the lip or into the dorsal fin will get you more perch, go for a 14 12 or 10 size hook.
hope this helps.

Re: Perch on carr mill....
the perch grow to not far of the size of the average pike in there
but they do wolf baits and as for a quiver tip rod the resistance they put up means it would be a no no for perch for me.
lures work well enough if youve got the gear to fish them low and slow
as for lives go for it, if you want to be plagued with jacks then its a good method it does produce better fish but big deads do put smaller pike off in there

Try about a foot or two out from the overflow, I have caught some 2lb+ perch there with a float and maggot. Sure you would catch there if you target them.
