Ribble
Fished elston stretch yesterday. First chuck I got smashed, finished with 3 good chub between 3 & 4lb 8 oz. Also had 2 nice brownies over a pound.
There are plenty of barbel coming out. Might try it again tomorrow if the weather is ok

Re: Ribble
I fished with a 30g maggot feeder and occasionally put a 50 g on to get bait in. It held perfect with a 30g. All you need is maggot and hemp

Re: Ribble
The salmesbury stretch is deeper and holds plenty of barbel and chub, and for your fiver you get free and secure parking which isn't bad. It's less than 30 minutes away too!

Re: Ribble
where abouts is this stretch al?? am hoping to get on the river before the end of the season and was thinking of the tickled trout but the secure parking sounds good. The salmesbury stretch is deeper and holds plenty of barbel and chub, and for your fiver you get free and secure parking which isn't bad. It's less than 30 minutes away too!

Re: Ribble
That is the stretch at the tickled trout. Salmesbury now have the rights to it. Your day ticket is five pounds from the petrol station. The car park is behind it, drive on and park up then go and get your ticket from inside and at the end of your session either drive up to barrier and wait until they see you or pop your head in the garage and ask them to open the barrier. If your a St helens aa member, their stretch at elston is great. parking is a few yards from the river at elston new hall farm. Just pay £2 at either farm and off you go. Well worth the extra 10 minutes drive from the salmesbury stretch.
