ST HELENS AA CANAL MATCH RESULTS 12,3,08
Another horrendous day on the canal again, with storm force winds and a water surface more suitable for surfing rather than fishing! But fifteen crazy die hard anglers turned out and one mental reporter.
As you would expect it was mostly tip fishing for those who wanted to get across to the far shelf , a couple tried going across with the pole and the result was two broken poles with the wind putting immense pressure on the sections, the rest chose to fish short at a couple of metres .
The wind was that strong a tree split down the middle in between ste hammy and ste rimmer and tackle was flying around all over the place, so a rough day all round.
First few hours , Dave Allsop on peg 39 had a few roach and rudd, Ste Hammy on peg 28 had a carp around 3lb on the tip plus some silvers on the pole, Alan Lever on peg 26 was getting a few silvers and ruffe, Warren Douglas on peg 10 had a carp around 4lb, Ste Edwards on peg 9 had a carp around 5lb, Gaz Shaw on peg 37 had a carp 4lb ish plus silvers, George Wilton on peg 32 had a 4lb carp, Ste Rimmer on peg 31 had nice sized carp while the remainder of anglers were struggling for bits.
Next few hours and George Wilton had another carp plus a few silvers, Gaz Shaw had a carp plus roach , Mike Hammond on peg 35 was getting a few silvers , Ste Rimmer had a few roach from down the side, Mike Elder on peg 4 was getting some nice sized silvers , Ste Hammy was getting silverfish action and everyone else was getting the odd silverfish here and there.
Last hour and George Wilton had two more carp plus bits, Ste Edwards bagged a carp around 5lb, Gaz Shaw had a carp on the tip around the 3lb mark, Mike Elder had a nice lump around 8lb plus a few silvers, Ste Hammy change tactic and went up in the water to get some nice silvers, Dave Allsop was getting the odd roach plus an eel, Alan Lever and Mike Hammond were still getting some interest off silvers and that's your lot a very slow day indeed!
Here's the results and a few pics plus video to follow.
