ST HELENS AA CANAL MATCH 17,9,08

27 anglers turned out on a nice dry day for the canal match and the conditions were not too bad! Even though the surface was flat calm for the majority of the day and not ideal to get the silvers feeding up in the water’ there was a good colour in the canal which did bring them on the feed. A few tesco side pegs were in the drawbag this week due to the ongoing bridge works on todds stretch and these pegs are regarded to be a good draw but it was not really the case today .

First hour and Charlie Horn on peg t6 had a carp around 4lb on his first put in, and all those on tesco side were getting a little bit of action off roach and skimmers, Keith Dixon, Tony Fairclough and Dave Allsop were getting a few silvers in the thirty pegs, Chris Taylor had a common around 4lb on peg 25, Jimmy Corkish on peg 24 was getting a few skimmers, Ste Hammy on peg 22 also had a carp around 4lb plus plenty of bits, Graham Dawber on peg 9 had 2 small carp a 1lb each, Lloyde Bamber was netting a few silvers and so was George Wilton on peg 4.

Next few hours Johnny Howard on peg 14 had a few silvers up in the water, Kevin Jones on Peg 18 had a small carp and a few bits, Alan Lever on peg 29 was netting some good sized skimmers, Dave Allsop on peg 35 was getting plenty of roach, both Tony Pennington on T3 and Mike Elder on T2 were getting some nice roach, Jimmy Corkish had a couple more small carp, Ste Hammy Bagged a lovely double figure common’ plus one around 8lb, Ray Roughley on peg 21 had a carp around 5lb on maggot, Keith Dixon on peg 39 bagged a few carp from down the side, Lloyde Bamber had a few small carp plus silvers and George Wilton on peg 4 had a small carp plus bits.

Last hour and Jimmy Corkish bagged a few more small carp, Ste Hammy had a few more carp, Lloyde Bamber was still baggin on silverfish, Keith Dixon plucked one more carp from down the side, Graham Dawber had a few more very small carp, George Wilton Had another small carp and and everyone else was getting the odd silverfish.
