where in st helens?? please look

hi real new to this site but i watch the vids on u tube it looks like a real top canal. if i wanted to fish the canal would i need a permit / day ticket , and also where is the best place to fish the canal.
i live in hull so i dont want a wasted journey [center]

yep a real good canal to fish but it aint fishing that well at the moment unless you go on the hot side and its a roach a chuck and the odd carp just maggots for bait and a bit of corn
