ST HELENS AA CANAL MATCH REPORT 5,12,07

Challenging weather again today for the 21 anglers who turned up to try their luck!, very strong wind and the odd downpour thrown in for good measure, on the plus side there was a lot of colour in the water. The wind was the main problem for most today and it was almost impossible to go across to the far bank on the pole, and the fishing was limited to a few lines close in and one in the middle with the exception of those who opted for the tip rod straight across.

So an hour into the match and Paul Lancaster on peg 35 had 3 small carp in his net, Lee Addy on peg 37,Ian Sullavan on peg 32, Dave Allsop on peg 16 and Allan Lever on peg 6 were all getting action from silverfish while most were struggling to put 2 bites together .
Another hour past and not many fish had been caught at all, a few were getting the odd roach and skimmer, Bob on peg 4 caught the same golden orfe he had last week, apart from that fish were few and far between.
A couple of hours later and Allan on peg 6 had managed to get the fish feeding confidently and was bagging up on roach and skimmers, Lee Addy on peg 37 was getting plenty of silvers and also had a small carp, Bob on peg 4 had 2 small carp, Paul Lancaster on peg 35 had a few small carp, Dave Allsop on peg 16 had a descent carp around the 10lb mark, Ian Sullavan on peg 32 had a proper lump at around 13lb.
Last Hour Barry Ashcroft on peg 18 had almost give up and after emptying his keepnet of the few silvers that he’d had and pegging it out to dry he fished a little longer and was soon into a carp around 4lb! NET BACK IN! and not long after was into another , Paul Lancaster was still catching small carp, Ian Sullavan caught 3 carp one after another, Lee Addy and Allan Lever were still bagging on silvers right until the end.
