my mate went on satday an got 4 perch bout 2lb and lost a big bream bout 6lb and think its free but no bailif any way so and if u go to the matalan end of town u can see car dealers thers a foot path not 8 yars to left

Just googled it, theres another stretch aswell after the bit behind kwik fit, does that contain fish aswell

The stretch up from matalan is St helens aa controlled and it is solid with fish but they are hard to catch because the water is so clear. The stretch after that is free and that too is solid with fish but it's not ideal for the pole. There's no pike and not many big perch. The best fishing is for roach this time of year but you need to fish on the far shelf. There is a lot of skimmers and a few decent bream in both sides but there are a lot of snags in both canals. Yet another example of how St helens aa don't look after their waters
