ST HELENS AA CANAL MATCH RESULTS 26,3,08

Today was the last match of the series, the weather forecast was rain all day and thankfully it was wrong, apart from rain early on it stayed dry for the rest of the day, there was a great turnout of 30 anglers the best all series , with the possibility of winning your section there was an extra edge to the match.
Although a lot of carp were caught in the 30 pegs with the odd peg being the exception there was still quite a few silverfish being caught here and there , Bob Howard had a good last hour on peg 23 with Quality silvers, Lloyd Bamber had a nice mirror carp in the last hour on peg 12, but all in all it was a fairly tough days fishing for most especially down the straights, todays match was probably won at the drawbag.

Right lads I just want to say the past six and a half months have been memorable to say the least and I have met some real characters on the canal I have laughed my head off! sometimes with you and sometimes at you ( cheers frank) and sometimes I have even felt like crying (cheers frank),
I just love it when someone says something at one end of the canal and by the time it reaches the other end a 4lb carp as turned into 10lb carp its like Chinese whispers, and when i asked someone “have you had much” and they reply” just a few skimmers and then weigh in 8lb plus , the amount of rigs I have untangled is unbelievable not mentioning any names( ste rimmer, mark addy, mike elder etc) I even caught a carp for ste rimmer and he was gutted he couldn’t weigh it in , I seen marcus catch a rat which gave him the best fight he’s had all series ,and I have even managed to pick up a few tips here n there :fsm: , I was also there to see the match record broken by iain Sullivan on peg 37 with 99lb 9oz amazing.
All in all its been its been fantastic and I want you all to know you’re a great bunch of lads.
I would like to say a big THANKYOU to dave allsop who runs the matches for turning out every week no matter what even when he is ill, cheers dave :fsm: you’re a star.

IT IS NICE TO SEE A MATCH ORGANISER BEING APPRECIATED, DAVE HAS DONE A GREAT JOB ALL WINTER AND NOW MYSELF AND MIKE ELDER PLAY OUR PART THROUGH THE SUMMER HOPEFULLY IN BETTER CONDITIONS. A BIG THANKYOU TO YOURSELF VIV FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK TIME AND EFFORT PROMOTING THE SPORT AND IT ALWAYS HELPS HEARING WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE OTHER END OF THE CANAL THROUGHOUT THE MATCH. Well done viv & dave you have fine a really goood job over 6 months well done .I have really enjoyed my first year on the canal. wish i fished them from the start lol. See you all next year
