Don't hold your breath Keith. The fishery management policy seems to be running up a blind alley.
What's the betting the pike get the blame for the disappearance of all those pastie carp.
It'll be killing time again soon and the whole destructive cycle will start again.

Re: LUGSMORE DAM
i agrre with eric- parr flash stocked 500 carp and 3 have been caught in a year so the members are after a pike cull
first to get the blame arent they
they are asking all members to kill any pike caught
i dont kill the ones that i catch there

Re: LUGSMORE DAM
Big no no for me as the Larger pike most of their prey is jack pike (approx 50%-60%)
as knowing a few people in fishery Management you need a good dioverserty in the population of fish that populate a lake, river or canal .
Any such cull will be detremental to the water and i hope they don't do it for there their will be problams in years to come

Go and smack your head against a brick wall for a while, it's less painful thantalking to these clowns.
It takes about five years of "kill the pike" before they finally cave in and admit they have no idea what they are doing and fade into obscurity. Then a new crew takes over and what do you think the first thing they say is?
Kill the pike.
Knuckledraggers the lot of them.

Re: LUGSMORE DAM
all venues should have a natural food chain and i dont think any venue has been cleared of fish by the pike as then there would be nothing for them to eat
for example you dont see 10 foxes in a field where there aint any rabbits do you- there would be nothing for them to eat
it balances out naturally

Re: LUGSMORE DAM
also if you kill a pike it just makes the remaining pike population chances of survival better as there is less competition for food
