30lb carp

i was talkin to some guy on the otties today and he told me a 30lb carp come out of there before xmas has anyone heard anything about it ?

To me that doesn't look 30lb, it might weigh 30lb on some peoples scales but just how accurate are they? I hear lots of rumours of these big fish but I'm yet to be convinced. I would say the one from the canal is early 20's but that's my personal opinion

im with you on that alan! it doesnt look a 30 to me , a good 20+ i would say

iv caught 30lb mirrors before and i no commons always look smaller but i wouldnt say thats a 30 either

i wouldnt even go that big upper double, and id bet it was weighed on avons or some similar scales that have multiple revolutions

It looks similar to one I had in a match around 19lb a few years back although them scales are a little dodgy. The scales I've seen people weighing fish with would throw up some new records and the number of 3 lb roach in St helens would make this town a Mecca for roach fishing!!

i had one of the mirrors out of there that was claimed at 27-28 or something daft on my avons it weighed just under 19 if memory serves apparently the lad had also weighed it on a set of borrowed avons

19 equates to 11 or 28 as well

no were near a 30 pounder

If i have a fish im not sure about i normally weigh it on 2-3 scales to make sure its accurate!

I doubt it very much indeed! Might of been a twenty and a low 20 at that.

i've had that common out ov the canal, under the new saints bridge. fights like a 30 but i put it down to 18/19 in the dark.
