Re: wednesday match
It won't happen anyway, the loss of the warm water and the fact that it needs stocking are just 2 factors of many. Go back 5 or 6 years and you couldn't get on the place. Carr mill are getting 45 + anglers every weekend and the canal can't compete with that. It's a shame really. A similar thing happened with lennons 10 or 12 years ago. They were popular matches for years and then numbers faded until it was just a handful of us. Then they got finished. If there was a way of getting them going on a weekend then I'd be more than willing to help!

Re: wednesday match
I THINK A BIG REASON FOR THE DROP IN NUMBERS AT COARSE MATCHES IS DUE TO THE INCREASE IN COMMERCIALS AND THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, FOR WHICH WE ARE ALL GUILTY, BUT THERE GREAT

Re: wednesday match
match fishing has allways been on a wendesday in st helens, dont know why but its been that way as long as ive lived here and THE 1 (bazza) is much older than me hes like the grandad i never had! and he'l probs know when it started somewhere near the end of the boar war i think and baz your deffo right commerciels have so much to over good sport and pleasant surroundings no pedestrians treating your tackle layout as oppurtunity to do some sort of training session for the for the paraolympics!! and all the series we have when were lucky enough to have em are allways on wednesdays!

Re: wednesday match
the other problem was the canal matches finished in march when the fishing started to improve, pegging was always an issue, I fished the canal for years when you had to pay in advance to keep your place if you missed a week . 34 pegs and a few professional anglers fishing it most weeks. Redevelopment recently hasn't helped and the lack of St Helens AA commitment to the water. Don't think I will be getting a permit this year for the crap waters we have.
