ST HELENS AA CANAL MATCH REPORT! 28,11,07

Post by waggler woman on Sat Dec 08, 2007 11:43 am

Considering the bad weather conditions forecast for today it didnít put anyone off and it was the best turnout so far this year with 26 anglers at the draw for the twelfth match of the series and there was a few more new faces amongst them which goes to show these canal matches are proving rather popular.
So first hour Mike Elder on peg 39 had a carp around the 4lb mark, Allan Lever on peg 35 had a small carp and a few silvers and Ste Hammy on the dreaded 34 peg also had a few silvers in his net , Jimmy Woods on peg 27 bagged a carp around the 4lb mark ,Billy Isherwood , Paul Hargreaves ,Dean Barlow and Dave Allsop were getting some action with silvers. Mark Tyrer on peg 10 had a small carp and Bob Howard on peg 4 caught a lovely 2lb plus golden orfe!
A couple of hours later Lee Addy on peg 7 was catching plenty of silverfish, Ste Rimmer on peg 9, Ste Hammy on peg 34 ,Andy Smethurst on peg 32 and Ian Sullivan on peg 18 were getting the odd silverfish here and there ,
Last hour and half the carp were on the feed and Ste Hammy caught 2 small carp, Andy Smethurst had one around 8lb, Ray Jones managed one as did Dave Allsop, Ian Sullivan seemed to have a shoal of them in his swim and nine put ins produced nine carp, Ste Rimmer, Lee Addy and Bob Howard all had a carp each and Mark Tyrer on peg 10 had a twenty minute battle with a 16lb 3oz common which was the biggest fish of the day, FANTASTIC!

Well as you can tell from my pics the weather today was abysmal, Torrential rain and extremely strong wind just the kind of weather that separates the men from the boys.
