catfish in canal

does any one know if their are catfish in the canal ive heard stories and have been told but are they true and can someone point me in their direction would appreciate any help

Yes is the answer,..have a look in the Gallery pictures and you will see a photo of the one i caught on No 10 peg it was 11lb 3oz,..also heard that a couple of 30s have come out,.but not seen any photo's to prove.......

that looks like a channel catfish is there any wels catfish in there or were they the thirties you mentioned

Yes it was a channel,..with no photo's of the other cats i just don't know,.I think dave alsop is the guy to ask,.. he runs the matches on a wednesday on the canal

there was at least 20 witnesses including myself to mikes 12lb cat. some big non moving fish have been hit usually in the late 20 early 30 pegs which could be bigger cats but no camera evidence to prove.

think i will try for 1 this sunday. dont think i will get 1 but you never know. can any 1 recomend a bait? & does anybody know what people have been hooking them on?

catmeat meat is your best option i would have thought.
