ST HELENS AA CANAL MATCH RESULTS 5,3, 08

A very cold start to the day on the canal today to say the least, after the clear skies we had last night there was the usual frost as you would expect but with the very strong wind that was as cold as ice it was a very uncomfortable day on the bankside for the 22 anglers who turned out. The water level was up quite a bit and Chrystal clear, the wind was that much of a problem it prevented some anglers from doing any fishing at all ,with tackle getting whipped about left right and center by the strong gusts ,with this a few anglers wrapped up early and who could blame them ! it really was the worst conditions we have endured all season.

So first hour very slow indeed with only a few bits being caught along the whole stretch with the exception of Ray Roughley on peg 24 who had a small common around the 5lb mark, Alan Lever on peg 32 had a carp around 8lb and Charlie Horn on peg 28 also had a small carp around 3lb

Next couple of hours still very slow, George Wilton on peg 6 had a carp around 3lb , Alan lever had another two descent carp one around 10lb and the other 6lb, John Risley was getting a few silvers plus a good sized carp, Ste Hammy on peg 21 had a carp around 3lb plus quite a few silvers ,Warren Douglas on peg 26 and Kevin Bridge on peg 34 was getting some action of silvers and so was Charlie Horn , while everyone else seemed to be struggling

Last hour or so George Wilton managed to put a few descent sized carp in his net plus bits, Frank Nelson on peg 12 had a carp around 6lb, Marcus Nickson on peg 37 was getting some quality roach up in the water, Jimmy Corkish on peg 18 had a carp around 3lb plus some nice sized skimmers, Mike Elder on peg 23 bagged a carp around 5lb plus some quality silvers, Kevin Bridge was still getting a few silvers, Alan lever was getting plenty of silvers , John Risley was getting a few silvers, Charlie Horn, Ste Hammy and Ray Roughley were catching some good sized silvers

A very tough day all round!

Another cracking write up viv, well done. Bad weather day for most. think were all mad for turning up lol!!!

Good write up again viv. And cracking pics, i agree alan we must have a screw loose lol. Only caught 5 fish on the pole rest on the feeder lol. Back again next week

id never of guessed

realy rough day, couldn't get accross on the pole for carp fished the tip but not a knock so last, 1 and half hours fished for bits and thought i had 5lb in the net , i was amazed when i weighed in 7lb 6oz just goes to show them bits soon add up if only i fished that way the whole match i could of weighed in 20lb! bite a chuck, you live and learn

It was a really bad day. i was struggling holding 8 meters lol. Hope the weather is better on wed lol

no mate , had a go but no joy, i would rather catch the roach to be honest bite a chuck

Ye i dont mind catching roach as well and skimmers there good fun on the light gear lol
