Anyone know if theres any good fishin on there

Fished the Wigan Stretch from Gathhurst to Apply Bridge. Some nice spots but didn't catch. Spoke to a few anglers on there who said there were some nice Chub in there. Apparently the best places are below the weir heading towards Appley Bridge, Lobworm does well there. Hope this helps mate.

some half decent fish in the dougie chris thats for sure.
the stretch around rufford is on a day ticket, not sure on the rest but have read somewhere that a club has got a stretch around apply bridge/parbold??
not sure where i read it but i'll go and have a nosey and see if i can find it.

Wigan AA have the stretch from the Navigation Pub(now the Blue Elephant) for about a mile down stream. I have been told that from Apply bridge to the weir pool is free.

had a nice 5lb tench out of there in 2004 the only time ive fished it and chocca block with good perch

Fished the gathurst stretch again, spoke to a guy who use to baliff the stretch, said it was badly poluted 3 years ago and the fish stocks have never recovered. Fished about six swims and not a knock so maybe there was some truth to what he said.

Fished just down steam of appley bridge for a few hours today, it was my first time on a river an first run through on a free lined worm an i caught my first brown trout, tried a few more swims down stream but not a single nock, still i enjoyed meself even after i slid down the bank an snapped me bank stick, does any1 know any good swims an tacticts for my next visit
